After switching Steam to Big Picture mode and restarting it, it updated and spontaneously installed a controller manager program which made the controller get recognized and editable. Anyone might have insight on this? I read that Steam now offers support for PS4 controllers, are there settings I'm not seeing somewhere?Įdit: Problem solved. So far I haven't been able to get it to work with these newer games. I know the controller works because it runs fine with the two other games previously mentioned. Make sure to Turn Off Xbox Configuration Support. In this video, I'll show you how to connect a Playstation 4 controller using the wired and wireless methods to a Mac. Go into Big Picture mode, if you go to settings and the controller options. The issue I have is with a couple of games I bought recently, I got Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, Portal 2 and a few others, and even though my controller is paired as usual and the game settings say "controller enabled", it just won't work, it's like there is no controller at all. If the PS4 controller works in big picture but not in-game then make sure the controller is plugged in and switched on before starting the Steam. So far, I've been playing SpeedRunners and Super Meat Boy and had zero configuration to do to make my controller work, it's 100% plug (pair) and play. The Wii U Pro Controller works great too and supports bluetooth but I don't know if it's supported through Steam or not. If you're looking for just any old controller that works with Mac, a 360/One controller works great if you google a driver for them. If you have the DS4Windows driver, you can play PC games with the PS4. I'm using a PS4 controller to play Steam games and it's working great, the pairing with my MBP is seamless and never fails. That would break 75 of the time but that's not related to the controller. Steam and most PC games work with the DualShock 4. I posted this on the Steam forum but haven't gotten any traction yet, so I'll try here.
